HSBC vs Nat West
Been a busy week for us. We have met with accountants and found one we like, we also met with banks. Two business managers stood out for us one with Nat West and one with HSBC both were offering similar produts. What experience have people had with these and would anyone recommend one over the other?
Thank you in advance for any help
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
I think banks are for the most part all the same, I've heard not very good things about HSBC that they're not that good, but to be honest it was a while ago and I can't remember the points.
I was with Abbey but (and if you read some older posts of mine you'll know why) have now moved to Barclays and have been with them for a year and so far so good!
Personally I'd go for Nat west just because I've heard bad things (even though can't remember what they are) about HSBC.
I think you should go with your gut instinct, which manager you like though should be low on the list as they could easily move on and you have a new manager that you didn't like.
Hope this helps your decision
Paul

Dear Paul
Thank you for your advice. I think everyone has a bad bank story from every bank so your right we should go with our gut.
Thanks again for your advice.
Andrea
I agree with the above comments, that everyone has a good/bad banking story to tell and to go with your gut.
By coincidence I had a discussion with a bank business manager last week that my Accountant recommended who was from Nat West - what I liked about him was his honesty and enthusiasm - for example he told me that NW didn't have the cheapest products but that I would get personal support - so far as I'm concerned this sealed the deal for me - I don't give a stuff about Nat West, I'm just bothered abou the support and advice I'm going to get.
I'm with HSBC. I'm finding them expensive. And they won't set up credit-card payment processing facilities for me, until I have turnover, for which I need credit-card payment processing facilities...
I may move, if I can find someone more compliant to my requirements.
Best, 2RM
Hi 2RM,
May i suggest that if you need credit card facilities then you look to join the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip, Paul. I have arranged a meeting with them for next Friday. I guess they will be trying to sign me up, and I am not averse to the idea, at all.
Kind regards, 2ndRateMind.
check out www.totalwebsolutions.com they offer a credit card clearing service very cheap it is in conjuction with a bank but you do save a lot on the processing charges and you get a virtual terminal free instead of renting a machine of one of the robbing banks
For the cost of joining the FSB and what you get in return I think it's almost a no brainer!!
Such good value.
