Essentials Magazine, July Edition 2007

Okay, so I admit it, I was not calm, cool, or sporting the British nonchalance that seems to be the way of things on this island. I was loud (can you blame me?! My American roots were showing quite a lot and I am sure I was very embarrassing to myself) because because because, I am in Essentials magazine this month. I ran to my little newstands, paid my £2.40, the happiest £2.40 I have ever parted with, flicked to the page et voila. There I am. Or the business, rather. Page 109. I have been in regional mags and TNT, but finally, dear ones, finally, I am getting into the bigger mags.
And possibly Eve in the July edition, but I won't believe it 'til I see it.

Ecstatic me,

PS. We now have Bloke Bags...great for Father's Day. End of shameless plug.

well done!

Hi Cassandra,

great news! what did you have to do to get in, did the magazine contact you?

We found with loyal flags that once one paper had ran it the interest just spread as the other journo types seemed to be lazy in looking for stories so make the most of in and get in touch to point out the article to them (particulary the local rags and news)

glad your riding high and keep up the good work and let us know how much impact it has on sales.

Dave

Congratulations!

Hey Cassandra

How reassuring that the first post I read after such a long time away from the site is yours. Congratulations on your magazine piece, you really deserve it! I'll go and have a look at your bloke bags - great idea, men are so difficult to buy for.

Thanks, Dave and Emily

Hello Dave and Emily,

Thanks for the nice words of encouragement. I had actually been contacted by one of the journalists from Essentials...all very out of the blue. So, it was a nice surprise when she contacted me and an even better treat when I saw that I didn't get axed during the final edit. Last year, May time, I used the press dispensary (mentioned on a podcast many months ago) and had been contacted by a few local journalists at that time. I don't know if my info had been sitting on her desk or if she's a friend of a friend of a friend, but I am very pleased that she did contact me.
As for sales, the mag has only been out for a few days and my hits are already much much higher and the sales have had a bit of a boost as well.
It's nice when something really good happens, after all those hundreds of hours spent on self-promoting that sometimes seems to get you nowhere.

Hope you two are both doing well and enjoying great success,

Cassandra
